LeMat Cavalry Revolver,
.44 caliber, .64 caliber smoothbore, 6-3/4" barrel,
percussion, blued, stainless nipples,
as-new in box, by Pietta

Designed by a French inventor, Alexander LeMat and Confederate General Beauregard working together to create the ultimate military sidearm, this revolver was to become a favorite of many Confederate Naval and Infantry officers. The first models were made by a Philadelphia gunsmith. But due to the war, the production was moved to France where the guns were produced for the Confederate States. The revolvers were then proofed in England and shipped via the Caribbean to run the blockade to the Confederacy. This unique single action nine shot .44 caliber revolver has added punch with a central single shot .64 caliber smoothbore barrel approximately 18 gauge to give a Confederate solder an advantage over his Union opponent.
The Le Mat Cavalry revolver is finished to a deep blue with a color case hardened hammer and trigger. The cavalry model features a lanyard ring on the bottom of the grip, spur triggerguard and lever barrel release. The walnut grip is checkered with an oil finish. The nine shot cylinder makes for a large percussion revolver. This revolver tips the scales at just under 3-1/2 pounds. The 6-3/4" octagon barrel is marked Col. LeMat on the top flat. A blued steel front sight is dovetailed behind the muzzle. The percussion hammer is notched to provide a rear sight when in the full cock position. The large .64 caliber smoothbore 4-3/4" round barrel is mounted below the barrel centered on the revolver cylinder. Remember this is a single action percussion revolver, your must manually cock the big hammer for each shot. The color case hardened hammer has the barrel selector which can be flipped to allow the center barrel to be fired.
We recommend the .454" round ball, a tiny bit larger than the factory recommended .451" round ball. This larger ball gives better compression, and seems to shoot cleaner. Be sure to order a #Flask-Colt powder flask, and an #SP-020 brass measure for your flask. Use GOEX FFFg black powder, Number 11 percussion caps, and a grease or wad over each ball. This revolver is fitted with stainless steel nipples.
This percussion revolver was manufactured by Pietta of Italy, it appears to be in as-new condition and is offered in the factory box. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
